Frazier Glenn Cross admits to taking the lives of three people on April 13, 2014. The three people he gunned down in cold blood were 14-year-old Reat Underwood, Reat’s 69-year-old grandfather William Corporan, and 53-year-old Terri Lamanno. All three victims were shot and killed because they were at or near Jewish Centers. Cross, who also is known to go by Frazier Glenn Miller , is a former leader of the Ku Klux Klan and an adamant white supremacist.
Next month the defense and prosecution are expected to start the jury selection process for Cross’s capital murder trial. On July 17, Cross appeared before the judge for a motions hearing. Fox 4 News reports that Cross had certain requests when it came to picking the jury as well as his sentence.

Among request Frazier Glenn Cross had at the hearing was to use a “compelling necessity” defense. Cross argues that there is a Jewish conspiracy to destroy the white race. According to the Kansas City Star , Cross spent almost an hour on the information he wanted to present which included quotes from the Declaration of Independence as well as Billy Graham. The motion was denied.
Then, he turned his attention to the judge in the case, Johnson County District Judge Kelly Ryan. Cross made the motion that Judge Ryan remove himself from this case. That was denied as well.
His final motions had to do with the jurors as well as the sentence that would come beyond the trial where Cross is expected to plead guilty. Cross, since he is representing himself at trial, mentioned that during the selection process he had no problems with Hispanics or African Americans being selected to serve. However, he under no circumstances wanted any Jews to be on the jury.
Cross would also like the death penalty taken off the table. He mentioned that he had read that it cost six times as much money for a death penalty trial as opposed to a life without parole trial. He accused District Attorney Stephen Howe of stealing millions of taxpayer dollars to try for the death penalty. Cross also mentioned this was a ploy by Howe to win a reelection bid.
It should be noted that three people that were murdered in this case were all Christians and not Jews, which is one reason the compelling necessity defense would not work.
