A Florida grandfather who allegedly killed his six grandchildren, his daughter, and then himself, calmly called 911 after his crime and told the dispatcher he would kill himself when police arrived.

In a chilling 911 audio clip released by WFTV (Orlando), alleged Florida mass murderer Don C. Spirit can be heard calmly telling the dispatcher “I just shot my daughter.” The audio clip is posted below ( Warning: Disturbing Content ).

“I just shot my daughter and shot all my grandkids, and I’m gonna be sitting on my step, and when you get here, I’m gonna shoot myself.”

The 911 dispatcher, in an attempt to keep the alleged mass murderer on the line, asked him what kind of gun he had.

“It doesn’t matter what kind of gun I got. They’re all dead. And, when you get here, I’ll shoot myself. And then you figure out what kind of gun it is.”

When police arrived, according to USA Today , there was a “brief verbal exchange,” before Bell turned the gun – later determined to be a.45 caliber handgun – on himself.

According to a statement by Sheriff Robert Schultz, the victims were found both inside and outside the house.

“All of the children’s bodies were located in various locations inside the residence, while the bodies of the two adults were found outside the residence in separate locations on the property.”

Schultz also released the names of the victims: 51-year-old alleged killer Don C. Spirit; Spirit’s daughter, 28-year-old Sarah Spirit; and the six children, Kaleb Kuhlmann, 11; Kylie Kuhlmann, 9; Johnathon Kuhlmann, 8; Destiny Stewart, 5; Brandon Stewart, 4; and Alanna Stewart, an infant who was only three months old.

Bell had had several previous run-ins with law enforcement, according to this Inquisitr report. Besides various drug arrests, Bell had also killed another one of his grandchildren over a decade ago. The killing was ruled an accident, but since Bell was a convicted felon at the time, and because a gun was involved in the accident, Bell was convicted of being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Also, according to Reuters , Florida’s Child Protective Services was aware of possible drug abuse and child abuse at the home. The children’s mother, Sarah Spirit, had served time for various drug offenses. She moved in with her father after being kicked out of the home where she’d been staying after her release from jail.

As of this post, police have not released a possible motive for the mass murder.
