A flock of sheep in Britain have given a new meaning to the word “munchies” as they inadvertently, or perhaps even on purpose, chomped down on a massive $6,500 worth of high-grade marijuana which was dumped in their field.

According to a report in the Telegraph , the flock began stumbling around after getting extremely high on around seven full bags of the plants, which was dumped for some reason by no one knows who at Fanny’s Farm in Merstham, Surrey.

The crop, consisting of plants as high as 3 feet tall, was discovered by the curious sheep who decided it was a lot tastier than the usual grass and oats they were used to, and according to farm manager Nellie Budd, enjoyed every last bud.

“My sheep being inquisitive had an interesting feast on it. They weren’t quite on their backs with legs in the air but they probably had the munchies, ” she said.

Fortunately, the happy flock of sheep from Surrey didn’t become ill from eating enough marijuana to keep 100 stoners high for a month, but there may have been some slight side effects, as Budd, told reporters jokingly, “They haven’t had any other side effects but I’ll tell you about the meat next week.”

She said about the stash, which she thought was simply gardener’s waste, “At first I thought it was someone’s hedgerow rubbish. I went down to collect the bags so the sheep weren’t eating black plastic. When I got there I realised it was a form of herbal cannabis plant . They were very strong in scent.”

The police officer who investigated the case, Detective Constable David Fair, said, “It is extremely irresponsible for whoever dumped these illegal plants in this way. We are doing all we can to find out how the drugs came to be at the location and who is responsible for growing and discarding the plants.”

Sadly, the police search for the culprits wasn’t made any easier by the sheep , who munched through any evidence which could lead to some badly wanted arrests.
