The iconic home from Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, John Hughes’ quintessential 1986 film, has gone on sale for $1.5million in the Highland Park area of Chicago, Illinois.
The abode is the house of Ferris’ best friend, Cameron Frye, played by Alan Ruck, in the movie, who, during an angry tirade, reverses his father’s luxurious car through a glass window in his garage and down into the ravine below.
You can now recreate this scene, and pretty much all of your favorite moments from Ferris Bueller’s Day Off , if you have a spare $1.5million in your bank account.
The 5,300 square foot home is suspended over the wooden ravine, and features four bedrooms, as well as a separate part of the building that has its own bathroom and kitchen, whilst this pavilion can also room four cars.
The house was put up for sale back in 2011 for $1.65million, but it has now been re-listed after its owners failed to find a buyer over the last two years.
Two years before, in 2009, the owners put the house up for sale for $2.3 million, but when it didn’t sell they then decided to renovate the house.
A. James Speyer built the home in 1953, under the mentorship of famed architect Ludwig Miles Van Der Roche, who was a pioneer in the field. In 1974, David Haird designed the glass-enclosed garage, which was then used to store and show-off impressive cars to passers-by. The Chicago Tribune has revealed that the home has only ever had one family of owners.
Ferris Bueller’s Day Off was written and directed by the legendary filmmaker, John Hughes, who also created Sixteen Candles, Pretty In Pink, and The Breakfast Club.
Hughes passed away in August 2009, at the age of 59, and was labeled as the kind of teen movies for his pictures, which also helped to launch the careers of the likes of Bill Paxton, Molly Ringwald, and John Candy.
