If you ever had any doubt of what a true father is like, you don’t need to look any further after watching this video of an amazing father dancing with his daughter.
Meet McKenzie Michelle Carey.
Born on April 11, 2002, Kenzie is an 11-year-old girl who is facing a life-threatening disease called mitochondria.
For those unaware, “ mitochondrial diseases result from failures of the mitochondria, specialized compartments present in every cell of the body except red blood cells,” according to United Mitchondrial Disease Foundation.
They go on to say that, “Mitochondria are responsible for creating more than 90 percent of the energy needed by the body to sustain life and support growth. When they fail, less and less energy is generated within the cell. Cell injury and even cell death follow. If this process is repeated throughout the body, whole systems begin to fail, and the life of the person in whom this is happening is severely compromised.”
Despite this disease, Kenzie is clearly full of joy as the smile she has is infectious and and quite simply, beautiful.
In this video, Kenzie can be seen dancing with her dad at the Summer PageantFest in a performance that will warm your heart and bring a tear to your eye.
