The casting announcement was confirmed during the Time Warner earnings meeting that was conducted on Wednesday, according to Hollywood Reporter .

Kevin Tsujihara, the chairman of Warner Bros., used the meeting an opportunity to reveal the development of a solo film just for The Flash. Even though Ezra Miller will not be featured in the solo film until 2018, according to Slash Film, chances are that he will show up as the “fastest man in the world” much sooner on the big screen.

This is because Tsujihara also mentioned a slew of other DC movies that are now scheduled to be developed, filmed and released within the next six years. Included among this list are the first two installments of the highly-anticipated Justice League movie franchise in 2017 and 2019 as well solo films for other members of that heroic ensemble — such as Aquaman, Green Lantern, Cyborg and Wonder Woman. There is also a chance that Ezra Miller could make at least a brief appearance in Batman v Superman alongside the other Justice League heroes that will be featured.

Up until now, Ezra Miller has primarily been known for his role in such dramatic films as Perks of Being a Wallflower and We Need to Talk About Kevin .

Being chosen for the role of The Flash could definitely be a career-changing move for Ezra Miller — especially if it is done the right way. Many fans and critics may have expected Grant Gustin to be the chosen one to fill Barry Allen’s shoes on the big screen since the recently premiered CW television series has performed so well in the ratings. Since the announcement of Ezra Miller playing The Flash was first made, many fans and critics have expressed their honest reactions to the news on Twitter.

#EzraMiller , NO! @grantgust , YES!

However, it is clear that Warner Bros. and DC Comics want to make a clear distinction between popular television series and blockbuster movies based on these characters. The same approach was taken when it was decided not to cast Smallville’s Tom Welling as Superman on the big-screen — even though he played Clark Kent for 10 seasons and well over 210 episodes on the small screen.
