A recent picture of Dougie Poynter giving Ellie Goulding a ring has sparked rumors of marriage, but Ellie Goulding has claimed that it’s just a ring from her boyfriend.
This is not the first time Ellie Goulding has been in the news recently. According to an earlier report from the Inquisitr , Ellie Goulding has responded to criticism from fans and supporters regarding a Native American costume she wore for Halloween and showed off on social media.
When asked about the ring, Poynter denied the rumors at the Royal Variety Performance yesterday, where his girlfriend Ellie Goulding performed. Digital Spy asked Poynter if it was an engagement ring that the singer has been seen wearing, to which she replied, “No. It was just a ring that fit on that finger. It didn’t really look like an engagement though, did it?” he said.
Ellie also posted a tweet denying the rumors, saying, “I’m not engaged. Awks.” Poynter’s bandmate Harry Judd also said he wouldn’t be impressed if that was the ring Dougie had bought for Ellie, joking, “That would have been a lame engagement ring Doug…”
Dougie and Ellie have been dating for a year and were first spotted together at an NBA basketball match. They didn’t confirm their relationship until May when Ellie told Alan Carr, “Err, he’s my man friend. Boyfriend traditionally.” In the May issue of Cosmopolitan , published in April, Ellie Goulding said that she was single, but the following month Poynter did confirm that he and Goulding were in a relationship.
Earlier today, Ellie Goulding expressed her love for Poynter’s signing. “He has got a really amazing voice. I’m always going on about male voices that I discover, incredible male vocals, etc. His voice literally makes me melt, and he doesn’t believe me! He has the most incredible voice, but you don’t hear it ‘cos he doesn’t sing much on their stuff. I wish he would sing more. I think he’s just a little bit shy! When he sings I just, like, collapse. I love his voice so much.”
Poynter may pop the questions soon enough, but the new ring on Ellie’s Goudling finger that was recently spotted was not an engagement ring. We will have to wait and see how their relationship works out and if they planned to get married.
