‘Dying Light’ Devs Dish Out Protips And Secrets In New Video Series

Techland announced the release of a new, six-part Developer Tips video series to help their growing community of Dying Light players. The first video, entitled “The More The Merrier,” is now available. A new video in the series will be posted daily until February 22.

For tips and tricks, who better to explain the gameplay than one of the people responsible for its creation? Narrating the video series is lead game designer Maciej Binkowski. His first batch of survival secrets are focused on the community and co-op elements of Dying Light . The game allows players to team up with up to three other survivors and Binkowski recommends filling up your squad for both safety and maximum fun. With gamers turning out in record numbers to play Dying Light at launch, finding someone to romp and stomp the zombie hoards with should be fairly easy.

The tips and secrets delivered from the devs are not just for the newbies entering the fray. Techland also promises there will be some juicy tidbits for those who have been playing since launch day. In a statement to the press, as posted on Gamasutra , Techland revealed future videos will cover useful topics including, “efficient zombie combat,” “tactics for surviving the night,” and even a few details on how to effectively traverse the zombie infested lands using “the art of movement in the game.”

For those Dying Light players who believe themselves to be a Molotov Cocktail above the rest, Techland also launched the very first Dying Light Community Challenge.

Each gameplay competition will have its own theme. This time, the devs challenge the community to showcase the baddest tricks, moves, kills or whatever makes them badder (and hence better) than all others. Videos can be no longer than 30 seconds, charging players with the daunting task to make it snappy and quickly strut their stuff. The five best videos will win a prize package from the folks at Techland that includes a Steelbook game case signed by the production team and a soundtrack CD signed by the main composer. The deadline for submissions to enter the first challenge is February 23.

News that the first challenge has been launched may be disappointing to those outside North America who are still waiting to pick up a physical copy of the game. Although Dying Light launched digitally and physically in North America on January 27, 2015, only the digital copy of the game was made available worldwide at that time. According to the official Dying Light website, the worldwide physical game release is scheduled for February 27.
