Drake Vs. Kendrick Lamar — A Debate So Heated, It’s Trending On Twitter

Drake versus Kendrick Lamar? So far, this appears to be the lyrical showdown of 2016. While Drake fans await Views from the 6 , Kendrick drops an untitled album.

Who will have the better projects this year? Drake has amassed epic hype around his Views from the 6 project since his initial 2015 release dates. With a somewhat wary audience, Drake seems to have finally settled on an April date for the album’s release.

On the other hand, in a surprising (and “Drake”-like) fashion, Kendrick Lamar plans to drop an untitled album on Spotify today, March 4, reports the Inquisitr . Well, maybe it’s not Drake-like. As you use If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late as an example, there was no warning whatsoever. One day, Drake fans checked iTunes for “Drake music,” and there was a brand new mixtape in the results.

Nevertheless, a great debate is underway via social media. Even Twitter hails the collective conversation in its trending topics. For the most part, Kendrick Lamar’s fans state that it’s illogical to try to argue with Drake fans about who’s better or has a nicer flow. Some of K. Dot’s followers mention that Drake’s listeners are brainwashed by his alleged ghostwritten lyrics.

Likewise, Kendrick Lamar’s fans assume that Drake didn’t accept K. Dot’s challenge — during Drizzy’s beef fiasco with Meek Mill — because he would’ve lyrically lost the battle and the war.

Drake fans have Kendrick Lamar/Meek Mill hate tweets saved in their drafts ready to roll out.

However, during that time, Drake received an influx of acclamation for “a job well done.” This wasn’t because his lyrics were so deep and awe-inspiring. This was because, since Drake was making diss tracks, he was throwing them at Meek Mill in the same way major labels throw 360 deals at new artists, giving Meek Mill a cut with every idea that came to mind.

Drizzy hit Meek Mill with so much innovation and creativity that it got the world involved in the diss. Like 50 Cent mentioned, “he got the whole muthaf**kin’ Canada” singing “Back to Back.”

Yet, don’t count Lamar out. Kendrick is an innovator as well. But, it seems that his ideology is on a different level than Drake’s at the moment. So, the big argument is whether Drake would be able to hang with Lamar’s “awakened” presence.

Basically, you possibly witnessed Kendrick Lamar’s Grammy performance. It wasn’t exactly what people were expecting. However, its “shock and awe” fully-etched it into history as “That Time Kendrick Performed At The Grammys.”

From Lamar’s performance, you can see his intensity and lyrical combativeness is far beyond Drake’s. Yet, Drake’s charisma to amass participation is far beyond Kendrick’s. With social media memes as the extra defense mechanism during beefs, which would you want on your side? Would you rather have the best punchlines or the best votes?

And if the hip-hop community manages to move pass Kendrick Lamar’s and Drake’s debate, some in the community believe that greater things can be achieved. If another particular artist believed in “beefing,” he would probably be in the discussion as well. And that’s J. Cole.

However, above all the competition, fans of all three artists believe they should come together on a collaborative project. Kendrick Lamar and Drake did it once on “ Poetic Justice ,” right?

Why not come with a Drake and Kendrick studio album? The hip-hop community is already awaiting J. Cole’s alleged collaboration with Lamar.

All in all, what’s your stance on the debate? Who’s your favorite between Kendrick Lamar and Drake? Do you think Kendrick Lamar’s untitled album will surpass Views from the 6 ? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments below.
