Statements that billionaire and Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has made with regard to “thousands” of Muslims in the United States cheering as the World Trade Center fell on 9/11, as reported by the Inquisitr , are drawing a great deal of scrutiny and criticism from the likes of former New York Governor George Pataki, and Jersey City Major Steven Fullop, along with many others.

The Washington Postwent so far as to rate Trump’s comments with “ Four Pinocchios,” the newspaper’s least crediblerating when fact checking. The headline of the article describes Trump’s statements as “outrageous.”

Former Governor of New York George Pataki tweeted that Donald Trump must have been hiding down some “luxury spider-hole” on September 11, 2001. The 70-year-old governor stated that instead of anyone cheering, he saw the United States “come together” on 9/11.

Not sure what luxury spider-hole @realDonaldTrump was hiding in on Sept11 but I saw Americans come together that day @GStephanopoulos

Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop tweeted his belief that Donald Trump’s 9/11 Muslim claims indicated that he may have “memory issues” or that he “willfully distorts the truth.” Jersey City, New Jersey is said to be home to 15,000 Muslims.

Either @realDonaldTrump has memory issues or willfully distorts the truth, either of which should be concerning for the Republican Party

Reporter Jim Heath described Donald Trump’s Muslim comments to be his “biggest whopper of all.”

Perhaps pleased with the reaction he has received from the former New York governor and Jersey City mayor on his remarks with concern to Muslims, Donald Trump tweeted out statistics breaking down murders by race in the United States. Trump’s view on the rich racial tapestry that makes up the United States is summed up in two easy to understand categories: “black” and “white.”

Some on social media have referred to a 2001 article that was printed in the Washington Post, and is archived with Scribd, stating that local authorities “detained and questioned” a “ number of people ” who were holding “tailgate” parties on a rooftop celebrating the September 11 attacks. Which, unfortunately, isn’t really surprising.

Timothy McVeigh , one of the worst terrorists in the United States of all-time, was reportedly disappointed, and called his bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City a “failure” because he didn’t take the entire building down, as reported by the Inqusitr .

Joining McVeigh among those in the “worst ever” category of people in the United States is David Koresh, who was responsible for the lives of four Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives agents, while he staged a 51-day standoff that resulted in the deaths of his 80 devoted Christian followers , including 24 children, as reported by the Inquisitr .

It wouldn’t be hard to imagine Koresh or McVeigh staging some type of celebration on 9/11, had they been alive. The Washington Postarticle from 2001 doesn’t even mention if those “detained” by police were Muslim. Sadly, a small group of misguided people, of just about any background, celebrating as the Twin Towers fell on 9/11 is not entirely surprising.

A Facebook video shows Muslims celebrating in what appears to be Middle Eastern locations, shortly after 9/11. However, even in those videos, the groups look small. Certainly not the “thousands” that Trump described seeing. Further, the encounter with police cited in the 2001 Washington Post article seems to describe a small number of people. Certainly not “thousands.”

A CNN Report from 2009, uploaded to YouTube, depicts a small minority of Muslims in the United States professing a respect for Osama bin Laden and radical elements of Islam.

Much like many Christians would loathe to admit that they shared a religion with a man who had 80 wives, such as Warren Jeffs , the leader of the The Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, as reported by the Inquisitr, so to do the vast majority of Muslim abhor ISIS and radical Islam. The FLDS or Branch Davidians could easily be described as being “radical” Christians. Though different by definition, Timothy McVeigh, the FLDS, and the Branch Davidians share a remarkable number of traits with the Islamic State.

In the video above, CNN states that Imam Shamsi Al, when leading the largest mosque in New York, preaches against “terror and violence.”

New Jersey Police Commissioner Jerry Speziale was asked about Trump’s Muslim comments by the Washington Post .

“That is totally false. That is patently false. That never happened. There were no flags burning, no one was dancing. That is [barnyard epithet].”

The commissioner stated that his main concern in the wake of the 9/11 attacks was protecting Muslims from the retaliation by the segment of the population in the United States that would attack innocent people based on their religion because of the actions of complete strangers.
