Donald Trump and Carly Fiorina have become poised as natural rivals in the race for the Republican side of the 2016 Presidential election. After Donald’s remark about Carly’s face, it became clear that she had to say something scathing in response.
Fiorina went with the approach that Trump seems too focused on her appearance and could be taking a misogynistic route to victory in the Republican primaries. Couple this with his previous statements about undocumented immigrants, and the real estate mogul could be in trouble.
Not only is Trump getting backlash from the Latino population such as Pitbull, as previously reported by the Inquisitr , but could be approaching more from women. After his infamous line, “look at that face, would anyone vote for that?” hit the press, Donald Trump had given Carly Fiorina the fuel to strike back and receive some of the greatest applause in the debate.
“You know it’s interesting to me, Mister Trump said that he heard Mister Bush very clearly, and what Mister Bush said. I think women all over this country heard very clearly what Mister Trump said.”
Trump’s follow-up was the first time he’s been noticeably nice, countering his previous statement.
“I think she’s got a beautiful face, and I think she’s a beautiful woman.”
Carly followed up with a statement on CNN , which could turn the tides against the current front-runner.
“It’s still different for women. It’s only a woman whose appearance would be talked about while running for president — never a man. And that’s what women understand. Women are half this nation. Half the potential of this nation. But somehow we still spend a lot of time talking about women’s appearance and not their qualifications.”
Fiorina’s qualifications are almost the same as Trump’s, being a former CEO of Hewlett-Packard, as reported by New York Daily News . Both are business leaders hoping to take over the seat currently held by President Barack Obama. This became evident during the debate when Donald Trump and Carly Fiorina brought up each other’s business flaws. Trump’s companies have seen four bankruptcies, and Fiorina had been fired after overseeing layoffs.
New Jersey rival Chris Christie used this to slam both Donald Trump and Carly Fiorina.
“You’re both successful people. Congratulations. You know who’s not successful? The middle class in this country who’s getting plowed over by Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton. Let’s start talking about those issues tonight – and stop this childish back-and-forth between the two of you.”
Much like the statement made by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, as previously reported by the Inquisitr , Trump has once again been accused of using “schoolyard insults” against women.
The Guardian reports that Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker questioned Trump’s credentials during the same debate, “Mr. Trump, we don’t need an apprentice in the White House. We have one now.”
It appears Wednesday night’s debate had almost become a roast of Donald Trump.
