Disneyland Fire Visible for Miles, Trash Fire ‘Looked Pretty Scary,’ Says Park Goers

A Disneyland fire that broke out this weekend at the popular park in Anaheim, California, scared quite a few visitors in attendance. Although the burning trash fire was limited to a loading dock area behind Disneyland and did not cause any damage, park goers admitted that the smoke could be seen for miles and “did look pretty scary.” CBS Local has confirmed this June 23 that the blaze was quickly extinguished without any further issues.

A theme park can often be considered a hotspot of family fun and entertainment, but a Disneyland fire this Sunday evening brought the prospect of flames a little too close for comfort. Local authorities working with firefighters verified that a small trash fire ignited north of the park’s attractions, but never reached its property. The cause of the contained blaze has not been determined at this time, but no known injuries have been reported.

While spokespersons for Disneyland assuaged park goers’ fears that the fire was anything to worry about, that didn’t stop the sight of smoke trailing high in the sky from scaring visitors. In fact, dozens of witnesses who spotted the aftermath of the Disneyland fire took to social media sites like Twitter and Facebook on Sunday to share photos of the puffy smoke trail.

According to the Orange County Register , one such witness spotted the unusual sight while getting ready to board the tram. He added that the fire was apparently extinguished quickly and did not prevent any visitors from entering the theme park area.

“We were about to get on the tram and my friend saw smoke starting up,” said Hermosa Beach resident Jason Gordon. “It seemed like it was behind the scenes.”

Another passerby said that the smoke could be seen for several miles and looked at some angles to be coming right behind Sleeping Beauty’s Castle, which would certainly be a major cause for concern.

“It did look pretty scary, yes,” added the park goer who observed the trash fire trail.

As previously reported on The Inquisitr , the blaze was quelled in just under 20 minutes, cementing it as a relatively small threat. The dark plume was apparently visible from such Disney park locales as Small World, Thunder Mountain, and the Matterhorn. A number of families also expressed anxiety over the park actually catching fire and disrupting what would have been a day of intrigue, merriment, and magical experience for parents and children alike.

“I was actually worried. It’s my first time being down here in California going to Disneyland. I was like ‘Oh God, don’t tell me it’s on fire,’” said another witness, Sabrina Cole.

With no evacuations ordered and no damage done to the beloved park, this weekend’s Disneyland fire seems a fortunate case of a false alarm. An investigation is being launched into what or possibly who may have started the small blaze out on the loading dock, but it’s safe to say that the cause of this harmless smoke wasn’t any rogue Disney villains lurking about.
