‘Dishonored’ Sales ‘Far Exceed’ Bethesda’s Expectations

Arkane Studios’ clever first-person stealth game Dishonored fared very well in the eyes of critics, and it didn’t do so bad with consumers, either. NPD sales data from the month of October put Dishonored in 4th place, having moved 460,200 units.

Speaking to Destructoid , Bethesda PR Vice President Pete Hines said that sales of Dishonored have “exceeded” the firm’s expectations. So much so, in fact, that Hines is optimistic that Dishonored could become a full-blown franchise.

“I can tell you that Dishonored is far exceeding our sales expectations, which is especially cool considering it’s new IP facing a host of well-established franchises this quarter,” Hines told the site.

“We did terrific numbers again this past weekend, both in stores and on Steam, where Dishonored was listed as the #1 selling title over the holiday weekend. And Dishonored has really sold well overseas,” Hines added. “So, we’re very pleased and appreciate all the fans that have supported Dishonored and Arkane. We clearly have a new franchise.”

Considering that we’re at the very end of the current console generation, it’s likely we won’t see or hear anything about Dishonored 2 until Microsoft and Sony pull the curtains back on their next-generation hardware.

In the meantime, Bethesda plans to support Dishonored with at least three DLC releases. The first, dubbed the “Dunwall City Trials,” comes with ten trials with various objectives, including a Horde-like challenge and your standard time trials.

Following that, Bethesda says that it has at least two more Dishonored DLCs up its sleeves, both of which are tied to the game’s singleplayer campaign.
