Clint Eastwood’s wife, Dina, has filed for legal separation from the actor.
Dina Eastwood’s lawyer, Michael McClure, filed the petition in her behalf in Monterey County Superior Court Monday. The former TV news reporter is seeking spousal support and physical custody of the couple’s 16-year-old daughter, Morgan. The petition also seeks leave to amend “pursuant to a premarital agreement,” according to the San Jose Mercury News .
It was reported late last month that the couple had separated after 17 years of marriage . Dina Eastwood confirmed that she and Clint had been living separately for some time. At the time, the Gran Turino star’s manager said, “I don’t know anything about that” when asked about the split.
Clint and Dina Eastwood married on March 31, 1996. He was previously married to Maggie Johnson for 30 years, during which time he had multiple affairs and children with other women.
According to various media outlets, problems arose during the production of Mrs. Eastwood and Company , the E! reality show that focused on the lives of Dina, Morgan, and Francesca Eastwood. The show reportedly bothered the 83-year-old, and he only appeared as part of the supporting cast
The series premiered on May 20, 2012 and ran for 10 episodes. Morgan Eastwood wrote on her Tumblr earlier this year that the family declined to do a second season “for right now.”
Shortly after news of the separation broke, Dina Eastwood defended her estranged husband, saying, “I don’t like reading negative things about Clint. He is a wonderful, good natured, brilliant person. No matter what, I attest to that.”
It was also rumored that Dina Eastwood had already moved on from the marriage with her high school boyfriend, University of Hawaii assistant basketball coach Scott Fisher. Shortly afterward, Clint Eastwood was spotted dropping off a mysterious blonde woman at Los Angeles International Airport.
