Did ‘A Bad Moms Christmas’ Leave Door Open For Another Film?

A successful movie in Hollywood only means one thing, a sequel. Bad Moms hit theaters in 2016 and it was a huge success across the world. Bad Moms took the emotions of mothers everywhere and poured their frustration out on the big screen. The original was done so brilliantly that a sequel was the only option, A Bad Moms Christmas .

A Bad Moms Christmas was hoping for a similar success as the original. What it was able to do was provide enough laughs to spark an idea. Instead of focusing on the suburban life, why not take the uptight women and send them on a road trip? Taking care of families is hard work and through two movies, we’ve yet to see the women get a break.

A Bad Moms Christmas took the holidays approach, but added a twist to the original film by adding each main character’s mother. Each of the original bad moms had her mother invade her home with rules and expectations.

Amy Mitchell (Mila Kunis) had plans to spend a boring Christmas with her kids, her boyfriend, and his daughter. It was a great plan until her mother Ruth (Christine Baranski) tried to force her demanding ways onto the family. Kiki (Kristen Bell) was not expecting her mother Sandy (Cheryl Hines) to arrive three days early, and when she did, it all made sense why Kiki is the way she is. Carla (Kathryn Hahn) had no idea her mother was coming until an 18-wheeler pulled up to the front of the house and out came Isis (Susan Sarandon).

Amy, Kiki, and Carla tried their best to take Christmas back from their mothers, but there were roadblocks. The constant fighting provided comedic moments, but what stuck out the most during the movie was the ending. Amid all the fighting, arguing, disrespect, drinking, bad language, and crude behavior was a movie that needed a makeover.

Just as we thought the movie would end on a positive vibe, we were hit with a shocker. Sandy, Isis, and Ruth told their daughters they were taking a trip to Las Vegas. What better way then to revive a franchise than a Vegas movie?

Think about all the possibilities that could ensue for each lady. While the movie ended with only the older ladies heading to Vegas, who’s to say that Amy, Kiki, and Carla could not reach Vegas for the weekend and wreck havoc on the town? Can you image the damage Carla and Isis could do with endless alcohol? Kiki and Sandy might be a bit out of place, but Vegas has a way of bringing the crazy out of everyone. Amy and Ruth have shown signs of being super uptight, but we’ve seen Amy get loose, so why not Ruth?

A Bad Moms Vegas will not be a reboot, but another chance to get back to its original comedic roots. The ending provided an outlet for the mothers to put their hair down and remember what it’s like to be women instead of rule-bearing mothers. If you really want to be a bad mom, what better place is there other than Las Vegas?

According to the early box office receipts , A Bad Moms Christmas drew a great crowd, despite being released early. Hope we see the bad moms in Vegas next year.
