While the struggles of Detroit are known , some have a hard time visualizing just how bad it is.
To fix that, blogger Alex Aslup is looking to bring the situation to light as he has compiled a collection of Google Street View images, showing the decay of Detroit from 2008-2013.
“The 2008-9 financial crisis had a devastating impact on the state of property in Detroit,” says the blog.
Referring to the devastation as a “hurricane without water,” Aslup urges that the financial crisis “served as the last push to tip a lot of Detroit properties and property owners over the edge.”
The deterioration of the homes and the properties in the area is heartbreaking to say the least. Below are a few of the images compiled from the blog, GooBing Detroit .
