Dennis Rodman will have to pay $500,000 in back child support after a judge determined that the former NBA star had been paying too little.

Rodman faces high stakes in his child support drama, the Los Angeles Times notes . Orange County Superior Court Commissioner Barry Michaelson has warned the former NBA player that he could face jail time if he doesn’t make up his child support.

Dennis Rodman and his wife Michelle still have more work to do. They have yet to settle custody and visitation arrangements for their two children, a son and a daughter. The couple is set to go to trial January 24 to iron out those details.

The $500,000 owed in child support by Dennis Rodman could have been much more. His wife had initially asked for $850,000, but the two sides met outside of court and settled on the $500,000 figure.

Rodman skipped out on a hearing in November 2010 where he was ordered to pay additional child support, and the new order was not properly served to him. As a result, he underpayed his child support payments for several months.

“He’s been complying with the court orders ever since he found out the correct information,” Dennis Rodman’s attorney, Linnea Willis, said.

Dennis Rodman cold have some difficulty coming up with the remainder of the child support he owes however. Earlier this year, his lawyer said the former star is too broke to make payments. ABC News reported that Rodman made $150,000 in 2010, but his lawyer said most of that was spent to pay off “significant back taxes.”
