On Saturday, actor Jim Carrey carried the casket of his late girlfriend, Cathriona White, along with other pallbearers at her funeral in Cappawhite, Tipperary, Ireland. Thirty-year-old Cathriona is believed to have committed suicide on September 28, according to various sources. She was found dead in her Sherman Oaks, California, home from an apparent suicide.
The same day Carrey carried White’s casket, he tweeted a memorial to her.

According to People , a close family friend at the service said Carrey seemed “terribly upset” during White’s funeral mass. He carried her casket and was seen with his eyes closed at one point. The actor arrived in Ireland early Friday morning, the day before he carried Cathriona’s casket. Her wake was held at her grandfather’s funeral home Friday evening.
Of Carrey at the funeral, the source said, “It was nice that he carried her coffin. Cathriona’s sisters and family seemed very glad to have him there.”
After the Requiem Mass for White, Carrey carried her casket along with the other pallbearers. They carried the casket through the village to the local cemetery, where White was laid to rest next to her father. She died two days after the anniversary of her father’s death.
During the funeral ceremony, Cathriona was said to be a “small town girl with big dreams who was not afraid to follow them,” according to Hollywood Life .
When the tragic news of White’s death first reached Carrey , he said in a statement he was “shocked” and described his girlfriend as “a truly kind and delicate Irish flower.”
“I am shocked and deeply saddened by the passing of my sweet Cathriona. She was a truly kind and delicate Irish flower, too sensitive for this soil, to whom loving and being loved was all that sparkled. My heart goes out to her family and friends and to everyone who loved and cared about her. We have all been hit with a lightning bolt.”
Carrey met his girlfriend in March 2012, but the relationship was short-lived as in March 2013, he told the Irish Independent , “I did go out with an Irish girl. We’re not seeing each other anymore. But she is lovely.”
Cathriona and Jim Carrey rekindled their romance back in May and were seen holding hands. At the time of her death, Cathriona was married , although she’s been linked with Carrey off and on again over the last three years.
White’s body was allegedly found near suicide notes and prescription pill bottles , reportedly days after Cathriona and Jim had broken up again. One of the notes was reportedly addressed to Carrey, and reports claim the pills belonged to Carrey .
Witnesses say Jim Carrey broke down in tears as he walked with other mourners and carried Cathriona’s casket on the way to her final resting place. In one photo, Carrey can be seen with his eyes closed as he carries White’s casket.
White moved to California where she became a makeup artist , working on stars such as David Hasselhoff and Lyndie Greenwood. She also loved photography, showing her skills on her Instagram account .
The photos where Jim Carrey carries his late girlfriend’s casket are sobering. It isn’t ever easy when someone is faced with a tremendous loss, and the fact that Carrey carried White’s casket reinforces the special place he held in her life.
