Daylight Savings time is upon us once again and at 2 am your local time, that means you’ll have to set your clocks forward by one hour, or as the saying goes: it’s time to spring forward!

So why exactly are we springing forward? Many of us do not enjoy the thought of losing an hour of our precious sleep. I mean, come on… Who really enjoys watching a whole hour just disappear with the changing of the clocks? I know I don’t…

According to NBC News , there’s a reason why many of us don’t enjoy “ springing forward ” for the sake of daylight savings. According to the report, the spring daylight savings change throws many of us out of sync. So why exactly do we have to deal with daylight savings? The report continues on to say that the “spring forward” concept was invented to conserve energy.

Does everyone adhere to the time changes brought on by daylight savings? Well, yes and no. According to National Geographic , in the United States, the federal government doesn’t require US states or territories to observe daylight saving time, and some states don’t.

“Arizona (except for residents of the Navajo Indian Reservation), Hawaii, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, American Samoa, Guam, and the Northern Marianas Islands won’t need to change their clocks this weekend,” said National Geographic.

The report goes on to say that, as far as the rest of the world, the observance of daylight savings is “a mixed bag,” meaning that some countries follow suit, and some don’t. “Most North American and European nations observe daylight savings time, while most African and Asian nations do not.”

The world’s nations aren’t the only ones who seem to have differing opinions when it comes to the topic of daylight savings. Just check out the variety of opinions twitter has to offer:

No to the person who made the part of daylight savings where we lose an hour. Sleep>Daylight

Daylight savings time may be one of my favorite times of the year. Represents longer days, more heat, & margs on patios w/live music.
