David Moyes Is A Dinosaur, says Dutch fitness coach

David Moyes has been labelled “a dinosaur” by a Dutch fitness coach, who also claimed training methods employed by the 50-year-old Scotsman since his arrival as new Manchester United manager are “Jurassic Park.”

The criticism follows the curtailed appearance of the Premier League’s top scorer, Robin van Persie, who was withdrawn at half-time during a friendly in Japan after experiencing a tightness in his thigh .

But while Moyes has said that the removal of van Persie was just a precaution, and confirmed that the striker is clear to continue with Manchester United’s pre-season tour of the Far East, Dutch fitness coach Raymond Verheijen has insisted through his Twitter account that Moyes has “overtrained” the key player.

He claims, “The only way to solve this problem in Jurassic Park is to improve education of these dinosaur coaches, fitness clowns and scientific cowboys.

“All over the world in pre-season you see the pattern ‘overtraining-fatigue-injuries’. Always avoid accumulation of fatigue in pre-season.

“But as long as most dinosaurs are still in denial & ignore how things develop in other countries, nothing will ever change in Jurassic Park. Obviously players like RVP should learn to protect themselves better against ‘overtraining’ & ‘punishing training’.”

The criticism is yet another headache for the new Manchester United manager. Despite only being in his new job for little more than a few weeks, the former Everton coach has had to deal with unexpected pre-season defeats, the apparent failure of a bid to lure Spanish international midfielder Cesc Fabregas from Barcelona , and – perhaps most importantly – the continued uncertainty surrounding the future of English hitman, Wayne Rooney, who this summer pushed for a move away from the historic club he joined in 2004.

Was it fair of Dutch fitness coach Raymond Verheijen to label David Moyes a “dinosaur?” Do you think his training methods are “Jurassic Park?”
