Darth Vader has decided that it isn’t enough to rule in another galaxy far, far away. This sith lord now wants to be the next Ukrainian president. As if things in this world couldn’t possibly get any stranger, a man dressed as Darth Vader took part in a protest action in front of the Central Election Commission building in Kiev as reported by BaltimoreSun.com .
The Ukraine Central Election Commission is less than enthusiastic about Darth Vader’s announcement because they feel he is making a joke of their upcoming election. CEC member Igor Zhydenko was reported by IBTimes.com as saying, “Someone was trying to turn the presidential election of Ukraine into a farce.” A “farce?” Or a “Force?” Either way, the CEC denied Darth Vader’s application. Now there’s a shocker. They do realize he could choke them to death without even touching them, right?
Believe it or not, it took over a dozen officials an entire week to discover the identity of Darth Vader as a 58-year-old electrician by the name of Viktor Shevchenko. Of course, Shevchenko denies he is Darth Vader. Certainly he was waving his hand and saying, “This is not the sith you are looking for.”
Shevchenko aka Darth Vader, however, is the candidate for the Ukrainian Internet Party. Yes, there really is such a thing. In fact, it is so real that the UIP paid the $225,000 fee to enter the election. That is a high price to pay for their platform in which they represent the idea of offering free foreign language and computer classes to all Ukrainians and abolishing all taxes, as reported by IBTimes.com .
The UIP was actually formed in 2010 by an infamous hacker, Dmitry Ivanovich Golubov. Could he possibly be the Emporor Palpatine? Although the group is serious in its endeavors, they, obviously, have a sense of humor, as well. This was determined when Darth Vader declared himself mayor of Odessa and began demanding a parking spot for his spaceship per IBTimes.com .
As bizarre as this all sounds, maybe Darth Vader should fly his Death Star across the globe to the U.S. As we have already seemed to have crossed over to the Dark Side, having Vader as our U.S. President would have to be some sort of step in the right direction. I can almost hear Vader telling Obama now, “I am your Fah-tha.” And quite honestly, it wouldn’t be too surprising. Afterall, as Darth has always said, we don’t truly know the power of the Dark Side.
