With former NFL player Cris Carter just days away from his Hall of Fame induction, he has been receiving plenty of negative press about his personality and sportsmanship.
There seems to be an endless stream of players who are willing to smash Carter for his over the top persona. One of those players is former Minnesota Vikings teammate Qadry Ismail.
Ismail appeared this week on SiriusXM Mad Dog Radio where he said of Cris Carter’s time in the NFL:
“To be perfectly honest with you, Cris was a bona fide diva.”
Ismail compared Cris Cater to Shannon Sharpe, former tight-end for the Denver Broncos and Baltimore Ravens. Ismail says Sharpe “was that kind of a guy that you just knew that he was in your corner.”
He then revealed:
“You couldn’t say the same thing for Cris Carter. You couldn’t say the same thing as far as his attitude towards his teammates. You couldn’t say the same thing as far as his attitude as far as the coaching staff. You knew that he had a selfishness to him that was an extreme selfishness.”
Like many players who have recently attacked Carter’s personality, Qadry is willing to admit that he fully deserves his Hall of Fame induction. Qadry admits that Cris Carter was the kind of player who brought out greatness in entire teams.
As Ismail explains, “Could he flat out make catches? Absolutely. Could he flat out make plays? Absolutely. But there’s a reason why they didn’t go all the way and win Super Bowls .”
