Williamson himself was one of the few bright spots in the New Zealand batting order, racking up 42 off of 21 deliveries before being stumped by South Africa seamer Aaron Phangiso, who was later named Man of the Match.

Whether du Plessis will return for the Second T20 , before a three-match ODI series between the two nations — who last met in an instant classic Cricket World Cup semifinal in March — has yet to be decided by South Africa selectors.
