Creationist Museum Promotes ‘True Science’ [Video]

While the British have just banned teaching Biblical Creationism as a scientific theory in schools, a Creationist museum called the Northwest Science Museum just opened June 14 in Boise. The museum, created by a non-profit organization, presents the history of the Earth according to The Bible. The NPO calls the museum a “vision center,” according to The Idaho Statesman. It is a smaller version of a larger Creationist museum the NPO hopes to establish with money the venture brings in.

“We want to show a lot of science that’s being censored and not shown to the public,” Doug Bennett, executive director of the NPO, explained in an interview. The museum refutes current scientific explanation for the beginning of the universe. The museum, located in a small building, has relics, fossils and displays.

One display reads, “Only a Biblical worldview can explain the existence of the moon and the uniqueness of its features.”

Another display at the Creationist museum in Boise reads, “All animals including dinosaurs began as herbivores (Gen 1:30), it wasn’t until sin and curse (Gen 3) that animals began to kill and eat meat.”

The museum teaches that Earth and all of its life and all of the formations in the galaxy were only created about 6,000 years ago… in accordance with Biblical teachings. Bennett said the non-profit organization is “just a group of us that have kind of the same idea of promoting true science.”

YouTube users from Idaho have taken to the comments area to explain that the NPO doesn’t represent the scientific beliefs of everyone in their state:

“Just because Idaho has quite a few intolerant, naïve citizens doesn’t mean there isn’t a whole generation of smart, dedicated people trying to change things like this. Sooo… #notallidahoans .”

The establishment of the Creationist museum has sparked debate about evolution, God, and the nature of religion in general again. A similar museum was opened in Kentucky in 2007, and within three years, it brought in over 900,000 and millions of dollars in ticket sales , according to WLWT News . What’s your take on it? Is there any place in the scientific community for a Creationist museum?
