An incredible video showing a man apparently trying to pet a great white shark is going viral on the Internet. The video which was uploaded back in 2009 seems to have been remained unnoticed until now. While the identity of the person who had the audacity to do something as evidently stupid as this has not been revealed yet, a report by the Mirror UK has revealed that the incident happened in South Africa .
The man in the video is reportedly a fisherman out at sea. The report adds that the man was challenged to a bet by one of his friends. The bet was for a sum of $1600 – which obviously the man might have won.
The video is very short, lasting barely 25 seconds and there is no sound either. The circumstances in which the shark came near the boat is unclear as well. However, it is evident from the video that the shark is in no mood to play with the man and given a chance, it would have torn the guy to shreds.
The man is seen patting the great white shark multiple times – at times barely missing its mouth. Towards the end of the video, he is seen pushing the shark away from him in a total nonchalant manner. The video, like we mentioned earlier was posted in 2009. It has now crossed the 275,000 views mark and is fast gaining the numbers.

This is not the first time we have seen people doing ridiculous things with sharks. Just a few days ago the Inquisitr had reported about a person who had the audacity to jump atop a shark – a tiger shark in this instance. Tiger sharks are as dangerous as great white sharks – in spite of their smaller size and have been known to be the cause of several shark bite related incidents in the past as well.
