A Cory Monteith Emmy tribute is currently being planned. The 31-year-old singer and actor was found dead in his Fairview Pacific Hotel room on July 13. His cause of death was determined to be a deadly mix of alcohol and heroin.
As reported by MTV, Emmy Award Show executive producer, Ken Ehrlich, is working on tribute:
“… something that reflects an homage… because things are in their initial stages… what the extent of that is, or how we’re going to approach it… it’s too early to tell.”
Ehrlich has suggested a musical segment , honoring Cory Monteith’s performance on the hit show Glee.
Monteith made his acting debut in 2004. As reported by People.com, he started out guest starring in Stargate: Atlantis, Kyle XY, and Fear Itself. He got his big break in 2009 .
In May 2009 Monteith sent Glee producers an introduction tape. He was called in to audition and landed the lead role of Finn Hudson.
The popular series follows a group of high school students who are members of the glee club. Cory Monteith appeared in 88 episodes through four seasons.
In 2012, Monteith and co-star Lea Michele announced that their on-screen romance turned into true love.
Monteith’s struggles with addiction were public knowledge. He acknowledged that he needed help, admitting himself into rehab for the second time earlier this year.
Although he successfully completed the program, his addiction ultimately took his life. Monteith’s family, friends, and fans, were stunned with the announcement of his death.
Cory Monteith was cremated and memorialized in a private service attended by his family and closest friends.
The cast of Glee held their own memorial service on the 20th Century Fox lot. Glee producers have postponed Glee’s fifth season premier until September 26. The third episode will include a dedication to Monteith.
Cory Monteith’s Emmy tribute is not entirely planned. However, producers are working toward a segment that will honor the talented young man.
