Condoleezza Rice has landed a brand new job: The former Secretary of State has joined CBS News as a contributor for the network. She is already slated to take part in coverage of Monday’s Presidential Inauguration.
Holding the distinction of being the first African-American woman to become Secretary of State, Rice served throughout President George W Bush’s second term in office. During the President’s first term she worked as his national security adviser. She also worked on the National Security Council under President George H W Bush.
According to an article by The Associated Press , the announcement of Rice’s newest endeavor came Sunday from CBS News Chairman Jeff Fager and president David Rhodes. In a statement they expressed that Rice “will use her insight and vast experience to explore issues facing America at home and abroad.”
Wasting no time, Condoleezza Rice made her journalistic debut for CBS News with a panel appearance on Sunday morning’s edition of Meet the Press . According to The Daily Mail , Bob Schieffer, host of the show, had this to say during his introduction of Rice as part of today’s round-table panel discussion:
“Everybody knows Condoleezza Rice was President Bush’s Secretary of State but I’m very pleased to announce she has a new job as of today. As of today, she’s joining CBS News as a contributor. We’re honored to have you.”
