Coachella is finally here. The music and arts festival kicks off on Friday, April 10, at the Empire Polo Club. While it’s easy to get carried away from all the excitement, there are some things that you should do and shouldn’t do at the music festival.

First off, you shouldn’t spend time doing the following activities: texting your friends, taking several selfies of yourself, checking out social media, recording the performances, or taking photos of the dozens of celebrities in attendance. You should experience everything happening around you, whether it’s the sweaty person dancing next to you or your favorite band performing on stage.

You shouldn’t also wear a flower crown unless you plan on dressing like a hippie or a woodland nymph , as noted by Fast Company . Speaking of headgear, unless you’re an actual Native American, you should never wear a Native American headdress since it crosses the line of cultural appropriation. Some festival goers wished that this sort of headgear was on the list of things banned at Coachella.

There is one item you should bring to the music festival: sunscreen. It’s extremely important that you protect yourself, as you’ll be spending a lot of time in the California sun. The Los Angeles magazine suggests using a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher. You can protect your skin and look cute at the same time by wearing a silk kimono or a light scarf. Other important items to bring include powder, dry shampoo, lip balm, tissues, antibacterial soap, and a portable phone charger.

Speaking of fashion, Alessandra Ambrosio shared her favorite things to wear at Coachella . She told Elle magazine that she loves wearing jean shorts, a breezy blouse, or a casual dress with boots. Ambrosio also admitted that she loves wearing bathing suits as outfits and accessorizing them with jewelry.

“Yes! Of course! I think jewelry can be worn with any outfit. Body chains are in right now and there is no better way to showcase them than when you are wearing a swimsuit. We created some jewelry tattoos for Ale by Alessandra for BaubleBar collection and they go perfectly with swimsuits.”

Meanwhile, fashion blogger Jenny Bernheim of Margo & Me broke down her outfit for day one of Coachella . You can also try this look out yourself.

“Try pairing your gladiators with a belted dress instead of a mini skirt or shorts like I did with these Cynthia Vincent sandals. The look, is ultra-fierce and feminine.”

Bernheim also suggests wearing large brim hats, open-toe sandals, halter crop tops, 70s style sunglasses, and embroidered tops to the music festival.

Now that you know what to bring and what to wear, here are some items that you should never bring to Coachella. The festival recently announced that “ selfie sticks /Narsisstics” are not allowed, according to their FAQ section. The list also includes flags, hula hoops, laser pointers, pets, sharpies/markers, and stuffed animals.
