Christine Cavanaugh, retired cartoon voice actor, died on December 22 at the age of 51.

TMZ reported on Tuesday that the details surrounding Christine’s death are “ unclear ” at this time.

On a professional note, Christine Cavanaugh left behind an impressive resume of memorable voices and characters – including the original voice of “Babe” the pig, Dexter of “Dexter’s Laboratory” and the lovable redhead Chuckie from “Rugrats.”

Christine also worked on several other popular animated series throughout her career, such as “The Powerpuff Girls,” “Aladdin,” and “ Darkwing Duck .”

After retiring from voice acting in 2001, many people wondered who would replace Christine Cavanaugh as Chucky – especially since Christine had given him such a unique voice and way of speaking that was seemingly difficult to duplicate.

Actress Nancy Cartwright, the woman famously known for providing the voice of Bart Simpson, admitted on her official website that accepting that particular role was even challenging for her in 2002.

“To try to duplicate the vocal stylings, the nuances and the ‘vocal gymnastics’ that Christine Cavanaugh created with Chuckie’s voice has presented me with the most challenging job of my entire career. I am loving this job and consider myself so fortunate to work on such a charming and well-written show.”

According to Christine’s obituary , she did not have any biological children. However, she was the godmother of Isabel Torres, the daughter of one of her closest friends.

Cavanaugh was only married once. She and her ex-husband, Kevin Cavanaugh, got married in 1985 and divorced years later.

On December 30, Kevin notably posted a quote from a Shakespearean play on his Facebook page.

The quote is from Act 4, Scene 1 of The Tempest .

“Our revels now are ended. These our actors, As I foretold you, were all spirits, and Are melted into air, into thin air: And like the baseless fabric of this vision, The cloud-capped towers, the gorgeous palaces, The solemn temples, the great globe itself, Yea, all which it inherit, shall dissolve, And, like this insubstantial pageant faded, Leave not a rack behind. We are such stuff as dreams are made on; and our little life Is rounded with a sleep.”

Christine was born in August of 1963 in Layton, Utah. After graduating high school, Christine decided to pursue her education at Utah State University. Eventually, she enrolled at the University of Hawaii before moving to California in order to pursue her goal of becoming a professional voice actor.

Heavy.com reports that Christine Cavanaugh first became interested in voice acting after becoming friends with an animator.
