Blueberry Flip Chobani was banned by the Air Force, as part of their anti-drug policy. Chobani’s Blueberry Power Flip contains hemp seeds, which are prohibited.

Hemp seeds contain trace amounts THC, which is the psychoactive ingredient found in marijuana. THC is classified as a schedule I drug under federal guidelines.

As reported by Huffington Post, the Air Force prohibits consumption of products with hemp seed or hemp seed oil.

The prohibited product list now includes Blueberry Power Flip Chobani. Captain Adam Koudelka, Air Force Legal Advisor, explains:

“The Air Force has not restricted military members from consuming Chobani Greek yogurt… only Chobani yogurt that contains hemp seed or hemp seed oil… just as any product which contains or is derived from hemp seed or hemp seed oil is prohibited.”

The official policy states that the rules are in place “to ensure military readiness.” Violation of the rule will result in disciplinary action.

Chobani spokeswoman Jessica Digennary explains that the Blueberry Power Flip yogurt contains around 10 grams of hemp seeds. She states that the yogurt does not contain enough hemp seeds to exceed federal limits of THC.

Digennary points out that a failed drug screening would be unlikely. However, she could not confirm the assertion “with certainty.”

As reported by Army Times, the Chobani Air Force ban was announced on Monday . Officials informed commanders via e-mail memos.

Chobani Blueberry Power Flip containers have two sides. One side contains Greek yogurt. The other side contains walnuts, chia seeds, and hemp seeds. The cup with the nuts and seeds can be tipped, so the dry ingredients can be mixed into the yogurt.

Unfortunately, members of the US Air Force are now prohibited from enjoying the yogurt. The Chobani Air Force ban is explained under AFI-120. Consumption of the yogurt is now a violation of Article 92.
