Much has been speculated about Charlie Hunnam’s departure from the Fifty Shades Of Grey film. While some new reports have suggested that Hunnam was uncomfortable about the instant fame and fan fare that came with playing the sexualized Christian Grey, official word was that Hunnam’s departure had more to do with the rigorous filming schedule of his television show Sons of Anarchy .
The latter reason seemed like a bit of an excuse, considering actors are privy to schedules months prior, and all of the details in his contract would already be ironed out before Charlie Hunnam signed on the dotted line.
Since signing on Charlie Hunnam gave a few excited statements about his role in the film, one being that he wasn’t afraid of the risqué nature of its context. Now after dropping out of the Fifty Shades of Grey film, Hunnam broke his silence and talked to E! about what he calls “a new chapter of his life.”
Of how Charlie Hunamm is fairing after departing from the role of Christian Grey, the actor said, “I am doing good. I am just really concentrating on work. It’s been a really busy time.” The actor continued, detailing that he’s been having a rough time personally, “I have had some family stuff going on so just trying to stay focused and stay positive and keep trying to do a good job at work and be with my family and stay positive.”
According to E! Charlie Hunnam’s father Billy passed away in May of this year, and at the time the actor flew back to England to be with his family. Currently he’s wrapping up the sixth season of his hit FX series Sons of Anarchy .
Since Hunnam is out of Fifty Shades of Grey and is wrapping on Sons of Anarchy , fans wonder what is next for the actor. He said that he needs to tend to family stuff. “I am going to go to England and see my people and then I have a film that I am doing with Guillermo [del Toro]. So I am going to go and do that and concentrate on the final seasons of Sons.”
