Fans of ABC’s newest version of the popular game show To Tell The Truth will be treated to an extra sneak peek episode when the show premieres on Tuesday, June 14. Hosted by Black-ish’s Anthony Anderson, To Tell The Truth is being described as a re-imagination of the old-time show, which first appeared on the airwaves in 1956. The show has been revived numerous times but hasn’t aired since 2001. What makes this version different than years past remains unclear, but the press release for the show states that the “all-new version takes the excitement to another level, featuring fun characters from pop culture.”
To Tell The Truth features three contestants all claiming to be the same person with some incredible talent, job, or achievement while a panel of four celebrities grill the three to find out which one is actually telling the truth. This season’s celebrities include actress and reality TV star NeNe Leakes, NBA star and ESPN/ABC analyst Jalen Rose, and the legendary Betty White, who has appeared in many of the show’s earlier versions. Anthony Anderson’s own mother, Doris, will also be on hand to help keep score.
For To Tell The Truth’s sneak peak, which airs at 8 p.m., Tracee Ellis Ross, also from Black-ish , will join the panel. During the 10 p.m. premiere show, comedian Iliza Shlesinger will join the panel. Guests for the two episodes include America’s fastest texter, Taylor Swift’s high school sweetheart, a contortionist, the highest grossing Tupperware sales person who is also a drag queen, a shark attack survivor, and somebody who jumps off buildings while on fire.

Originally known as The $10,000 Pyramid , the first version of the game show appeared on TV in 1973 and was hosted by Dick Clark. Like To Tell The Truth , Pyramid has reappeared numerous times over the years while increasing the prize each time. This year, former Live with Kelly and Michael and current Good Morning America host Michael Stahan hosts The $100,000 Pyramid that is part of ABC’s “Sunday Fun and Games Night” beginning on Sunday, June 6. The $100,000 Pyramid will be sandwiched between Celebrity Family Feud and Match Game .
The new version of the word-association game features a long list of competing celebrities partnering with contestants in hopes of winning the big prize. The celebrity lineup includes the following stars.

ABC is relying heavily on game shows this summer, and while many are looking forward to the fun, Bray Moylan from the Guardian points out that sometimes less is more while making a pun about Match Game .
“While this seems like a fun night of programming, someone should remind ABC of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire , a smash hit that it put on the air five times a week and ran into the ground, unseating it from its throne as the most-watched network in the country. The stakes aren’t nearly as high with these shows, which will never reach the 30 million viewers that Millionaire did at its height, but it just goes to show that with game shows, sometimes less of a good thing is… blank.”
