According to reports , Penelope Cruz and Diane Kruger are in final negotiations to star in the new film This Man, This Woman . The film is set to be directed by festival favorite Isabel Coixet, while the screenplay was written by Eyes Wide Shut writer Frederic Raphael. The story follows Matt Heller and Martha Parks (played by Penelope Cruz), estranged lovers recounting their whirlwind romance during a chance meeting on a plane. Kruger will be playing the role of Kristy Sachs, a talk show host who has an affair with Heller.

The screenplay by Raphael has already been praised in some circles, with producer Mike Lobell championing the film for a long time now.

Combined with an extraordinary director to help realize Freddie’s amazing script, there must be a movie God after all.”
Fortitude International’s co-founders, Nadine de Barros and Robert Ogden Barnum, are also championing the screenplay, as well as Coixet’s involvement.

This Man, This Woman is Penelope Cruz’s latest high profile project following the neo-noir film The Counselor back in 2013. She is also set to star in the Louis Leterrier comedy film, Grimsby , alongside Sacha Baron Cohen and Mark Strong. She will also be appearing in Ben Stiller’s Zoolander sequel.
In a feature for Interview where actress Marion Cotillard asked her about her career, Penelope Cruz revealed that her first experience with movies involved watching the films of Pedro Almodóvar, who eventually became one of her frequent collaborators. When Cruz was asked by Cotillard about what films she watched growing up, Cruz said, “A lot of Pedro Almodóvar’s movies, actually—I got obsessed with him at an early age.”
According to Cruz, seeing Almodóvar’s Tie Me Up, Tie Me Down in the cinema contributed to her decision to become an actress. She eventually made a name for herself after starring in several of Almodóvar’s films.
