As Caitlyn Jenner continues her journey into femininity and a transgender life, the road she travels isn’t always clearly marked, nor is it void of confusion. But Caitlyn’s friends, and the support that she has surrounded herself with, continue to be her guide, even when the going gets awkward.
Such is the case in this week’s Sunday night installment of E!’s I Am Cait , when Caitlyn Jenner confides to her fellow transgender girlfriend, Jenny Boylan, that she’d love for a man to treat her like “a normal woman”, reports Us Weekly .
While Caitlyn Jenner previously told Diane Sawyer during an April one-on-one interview that she wasn’t really attracted to men, Caitlyn explaining that her sexual identity and sexuality were separate issues, in the upcoming episode of I Am Cait , Caitlyn admits to Boylan that a guy treating her like a “normal woman” would be “very attractive.”
“It would be very attractive to me to have a guy treat me like a woman,” Caitlyn Jenner confides to Boylan.
This statement forces Boylan to snap her head sharply and dramatically shift to a stern posture, her eyes zeroing in on Caitlyn Jenner as the painfully awkward moment unfolds on the screen , intense music suddenly underscoring the scene.
“What… does that… mean?,” inquires Boylan, Caitlyn buying some time with an “Uhhhh,” before harnessing her thoughts and continuing.
“That you would be treated like a normal woman, okay?” says Jenner.
“What do you mean, a ‘normal woman?’” Boylan fires back.
“Like any other woman on the street,” says Jenner. “And not make it this big trans thing, or this or that. Just a normal relationship.”
Caitlyn’s words come like a breeze blowing away a dark cloud from over Boylan’s head, the GLAAD chairwoman and longtime Caitlyn Jenner supporter, expressing to Jenner that she is already a “normal woman.”
“So you know what, Caitlyn Jenner? You are a normal woman, right now, today! A man is not… You don’t need a man to make you a woman. A woman can make you a woman… I think it’s a thing that women do. We look to men to give us self-worth. Now that you’re in the sisterhood, you have gone to such trouble to be a woman, don’t be a stupid one. Be a smart one.”
Jenner agrees throughout, affirming her friend’s obviously heartfelt advice and support.
Such support may come as a breath of fresh air for Caitlyn Jenner after recent brawls and accusations thrown at her by the sisters Kardashian.
