Brooke Burke is cancer free . Seven days after she underwent a thyroidectomy, the model and mom of four confirmed the happy news in a blog post on her ModernMom blog:
“I just got the results back from all of my tests and great news – the thyroid cancer has been removed from my body and all my lymph nodes are clear. So I’m hoping that this is the end of the story. Woohoo!!! And thank GOD!”
The Dancing With the Stars co-host filled fans in on how she was spending her recovery:
“I’ve been home for the past week, watching a lot of TV, which I never do. I’ve almost made it through the entire season of Showtime’s […] Homeland . I can’t remember the last time I lost myself in someone else’s story.”
The 41-year-old, who only made her cancer diagnosis public last month , also revealed how her experience with a potentially fatal illness had brought her and her family closer:
“Every day I’m feeling better and I’m looking forward to getting back to my usual routine, but with a bit of a different outlook. I’ve never been one to take life for granted and it sounds so cliché to say it, but this whole thyroid experience has given my family such a scare that it seems to have brought us all closer. And it’s allowing us to ring in the New Year with a newfound respect for life.”
Since revealing her happy news, the star has taken to Twitter to describe how she’s enjoying life to its fullest:
i know I’m still recovering but 2 night, vino, fried calamari & beef carpaccio were my best medicine….its a good sign ? had to get out
