Britney Haynes is requesting prayers for her infant daughter. The former reality star recently revealed that 20-month-old Tilly was diagnosed with cancer.
Haynes appeared on Big Brother in 2010 and 2012. Following her appearance on the show, she married her childhood sweetheart Nathan “Ryan” Godwin.
The former Big Brother contestant was thrilled to announce she was pregnant early this year. She posted sonogram pictures along with her announcement.
As reported by The Kansas City Star , Tilly was born on July 13. Through her Twitter account, Hayes suggested that Tilly was often fussy and restless. However, she did not mention any medical concerns.
Last week Britney Haynes announced that Tilly was diagnosed with cancer:
“On September 1st, we were among the daily 720 sets of parents to be absolutely devastated with a Childhood Cancer diagnosis.”
In addition to the announcement, Haynes asked fans to pray for Tilly and all children diagnosed with the devastating disease.
She has not discussed the details of her daughter’s illness . However, she thanked fans for their continued prayers and support.
September is National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, as proclaimed by President Obama .
Pediatric cancer patients have made great strides in the last 30 years. The 5-year survival rate has increased more than 20 percent through advancements in treatment.
Unfortunately, pediatric cancer remains the most fatal disease affecting children under the age of 15.
President Obama has committed to funding research and providing families with assistance. Beginning in 2014, the Affordable Care Act will prohibit insurance denial for children with pre-existing conditions. The act also prohibits caps on paying for treatment.
Obamacare is expected to benefit thousands of families affected by childhood cancer.
Britney Haynes thanks her fans for their well wishes. However, she has not revealed any details about Tilly’s diagnosis. She is simply asking for continued prayers and support.
