You could be forgiven if you thought Beyonce might not be all that secretive about her headline grabbing pregnancy.
The 30-year-old singer has long been attracting speculation- since she hooked up with reigning rap star Jay-Z- about when the hip-hop power couple would decide to start their family. And Beyonce’s big reveal- wearing a figure hugging garment at an awards show- set off tabloids and gossip columns. Talk soon bizarrely turned to weather Beyonce was padding her dresses to cause her pregnancy to appear more dramatic, and speculation that the singer was “faking it” at least a little bit was rife.
But Beyonce has opened up about the timing of announcing the pregnancy, talking about performing and keeping the news under wraps while at the New York screening of her new DVD concert Sunday night. Bey was answering questions while hosting an event at New York City’s Paris Theater to mark the release of the DVD concert “Live at Roseland,” and the singer says she thought that her pregnancy was obvious at shows she did before the announcement.
The pop star said, in regards to dancing in a mini-dress before the story was public:
“The whole time I definitely was thinking, ‘Everyone knows, everyone can see…’ when you’re pregnant, it’s a little bit harder to breathe, so it was hard doing all the choreography and singing at the same time.”
Beyonce said the release- which features a lot of footage filmed during her pregnancy- will also serve as a video memento for the baby when he or she is born, thinking, as the singer joked, “I can’t believe I was in that belly!”
