Beyoncé is in the news again. The singer has had a boulevard named after her in Bermuda.
Originally, a walkway at Bermuda’s National Sports Center was called “Beyoncé Boulevard” by construction workers, as that was where the 31-year-old made her entrance at a 2008 Music Festival on the island. But since then, the name has stuck and become the preferred way everyone refers to it.
Trevor Madeiros, the site’s facility manager told local Bermuda paper Royal Gazette , that a “Beyoncé Boulevard” street sign had been put up last week.
“We had to tidy up the driveway for her to come through to perform — it was a construction site at the time,” he explained. “Somebody called it Beyoncé Boulevard and everybody started using it … So many people use the name when giving directions to visitors that it finally got its own sign. It’s nothing really official. It’s an internal thing that we put up ourselves.”
In other Beyoncé news, apart from ruffling PETA’s feathers again by her bizarre insistence on paying taxes and spending her money as she chooses, the singer was recently announced as the headliner at the UK’s upcoming V festival along with Kings of Leon.
After selling out the UK and Irish leg of her “The Mrs Carter Show” world tour in just 12 minutes , analysts are expecting the Houston native to boost V festival’s ticket sales now that they’ve gone on sale today and possibly set a record of its own, Capital FM notes .
For her part, Beyoncé was seen enjoying some family downtime with husband Jay-Z and their daughter Blue Ivy this week in New York, before her world tour kicks off on April 15 in Belgrade, Serbia before concluding at Brooklyn’s Barclay Center on August 4.
