Bethenny Frankel left the Real Housewives of New York not because she felt she was getting “too big” for the show, but because she was embarrassed to be a Housewife. The reality TV star reveals her reason for ditching the show after only three seasons in her interview with Andy Cohen on the March 22 episode of Watch What Happens Live.
In a sneak peak of WWHL , Frankel, 44, tells Bravo producer Andy Cohen that when RHONY first started, it was a different kind of show. By the time she exited three years later, Bethenny was no longer proud of being a part of it, as reported by Daily Mail .
“I felt like it was a little something to not be proud of. There was a point when I was a little embarrassed to be a Housewife. There was a time when I was in it that it felt kind of not what I started out as, and that’s why I walked away.”
While she may have been embarrassed of the show when she left in 2010, Bethenny Frankel’s coming back to RHONY will only better the show, she tells Cohen in tonight’s WWHL episode, reports People .
“I feel like me coming back to this show this season has changed up the dynamic…It’s something that I’m proud of again. It just seems honest. It seems real.”
While Frankel may be happy she is returning for the seventh season of the Real Housewives of New York , some of her co-stars may not be as overjoyed. As previously reported by the Inquisitr , Bethenny’s return to RHONY may be causing tension among the cast and crew as she has seemingly taken over any media attention for the show’s upcoming season, which is set to premiere next month.
“The shows Bethenny refuses to do will be handed out to the rest of the ladies, like leftovers. Bethenny is practically running the press campaign. If they want her to promote the show, then they have to play by her rules. She doesn’t want to appear with the new ladies she has just met, but has agreed to do press with LuAnn and Ramona.”
In addition to allegedly taking over the show’s press campaign, Frankel has demanded editorial control over any footage for the show in which she appears, an opportunity not afforded to the other cast members.
The Real Housewives of New York premieres April 7 at 9 p.m. ET on Bravo.
