The BBC announced on Monday that it has added several new actors to it’s line up for Ripper Street Season 2. Matthew Macfadyen (Anna Karenina) as Inspector Reid, Jerome Flynn, Game of Thrones as Sergeant Drake, and Adam Rothenberg (Elementary) as Captain Jackson will be joined by some Game Of Thrones and The Wire actors.

In a press release, the BBC stated that David Costabile ( Breaking Bad , The Wre), Damien Molony (Being Human), Joseph Mawley (Game Of Thrones, Birdsong), and Leanne Best enter the series in 1890.

Ripper Street Season 1 focused on the aftermath of the gruesome Jack the Ripper murders and what occurred to a group of detectives from H Division investigating similar crimes.

Inspector Reid, who is level headed and analytical realizes that the new crimes are different, even though some are meant to appear as though Jack the Ripper committed them.

Ripper Street Season 2 takes place a year after Season 1 ends and picks up the story as the three main characters are attempting to put their troubles behind them and start a new life.

“As the century enters its final decade, the streets teeter on the brink of moral collapse, and nowhere is the declining British Empire’s problems felt more keenly than in its dark heart: the East End of London.”

As Jackson attempts to move forward with his life, his brother, Daniel Judge (David Costabile), enters the picture. Joining Reid and Drake in H Division is new Detective Constable Albert Flight (Damien Molony).

Over in K Division, corrupt rival, Inspector Jedidiah Shine (Joseph Mawle) presents numerous obstacles. Viewers will also meet, Jane Cobden (Leanne Best) – the first woman elected to the London County Council.

Also returning for Season 2 are Myanna Buring in her role as the brothel madam Long Susan and Charlene McKenna as the prostitute Rose.
