Bayern Munich made easy work of Juventus in its 2-0 win over the Italians in the second leg of the Champions League quarter-finals on Wednesday.
The Bavarians held a comfortable 2-0 advantage following the win in Germany last week and had no problems against Juve in Turin.
Mario Mandzukic and Claudio Pizarro scored in the second half to complete a clinical 4-0 aggregate victory over the Serie A champions.
Juve came out strong to start the game knowing that it needed an early goal to get back into the tie but Mirko Vucinic’s tame effort failed to trouble Manuel Neuer.
Andrea Pirlo then tested Neuer from a free kick and the German goalkeeper was more than up for the task.
Bayern seemed content to soak up some pressure in the first half and play off the counter and Thomas Muller and Jerome Boateng had decent chances but could not beat Gigi Buffon.
It looked as if the visitors had survived Juve’s initial push and were definitely content with the 0-0 scoreline at the half-time interval.
Bayern Munich came out the better side after the break and was rewarded with the goal that killed off the tie.
Mandzukic found himself in the right place at the right time to slot home a rebound after Buffon initially kept out Javi Martinez’s first effort.
The Germans were free and clear and the hosts knew it as they failed to create any decent opportunities as the second half wore on.
Bayern was in total control and added another goal in injury time for good measure when Pizarro beat Buffon from six-yards out to spark celebrations on the Bundesliga club’s touchline.
Bayern Munich was more than good value for its 2-0 victory on the night and will be full of confidence heading into the semi-finals of Europe’s most elite club competition.
