A large number of movie trailers tend to have music ripped from the original scores of other movies, and some even have vocal tracks that share the same spirit of the film. Most of the time it has to do with the fact that the composer of the film hasn’t had a chance to iron things out musically quiet yet, as the production-to-release process is so fast. It’s usually only big budget flicks that get the original trailer score, and there is little doubt that DC and Warner Bros.’s upcoming Batman v Superman falls squarely into that category. As the second film in DC’s Cinematic Universe, Warner Bros. is surely throwing all they can into the movie to ensure its success.

As such, composers Hans Zimmer and Junkie XL are hard at work at composing music for the upcoming Batman v Superman trailer, which if rumors are correct , will be debuting in front of Mad Max: Fury Road .

The reveal that original music will be used for the trailer came via Junkie XL’s Twitter account.

Junkie XL’s enthusiasm for the project is undoubtedly palpable, which is likely the reason Hans Zimmer brought him on board to help out with the score to begin with.

After scoring Man of Steel , it made sense to bring Zimmer back, but after spending three movies scoring The Dark Knight Trilogy , he wasn’t so sure about tackling the same character again.

“You know something? I have agonized over it,” Zimmer revealed to Spinoff in an interview.

“I agonized over it, so much so that finally, I went, I don’t want to betray what Chris, James Newton Howard and I did. And so I asked Zack [Snyder] if it would be OK if I called a friend in. And I’m going to be working with Junkie XL, who really is a great friend. He just finished the Mad Max score. I said to him, ‘You take care of Batman. I’ll do the other guy (Superman).’ And Zack loved that idea. It’s a way out.”

It’s a cool approach for a team-up flick like Batman v Superman , with composers working with different characters, and it’ll be interesting to see how it turns out.

The first Batman v Superman trailer is set to premiere on May 15, 2015 in front of Mad Max: Fury Road . Are you looking forward to seeing how the score turns out? Let us know below!
