Baskin-Robbins Serves Up Camouflage Ice Cream, Donates To Good Cause

Baskin-Robbins is looking to scoop up some extra sales this Veteran’s Day on November 11 with their latest cold confectionary concoction: Camouflage ice cream.

The tasty treat, which Baskin-Robbins is calling “First-Class Camouflage,” has been making the rounds on social media and for good reason — both the ice cream and cone bear a unique camouflage pattern that you just don’t see every day. The ice cream is a combination of chocolate, salty caramel, and cake flavors, and is honored as their official flavor of the month for November.

Beyond the novelty of eating stealthy ice cream, the dessert offers a great benefit to veterans and active duty military personnel around the globe. For every scoop sold on Veteran’s Day, Baskin-Robbins is going to donate 10 cents to the United Service Organizations, or USO . The organization is widely known for putting on elaborate shows for troops deployed overseas, which it has a lengthy history of doing, and has hosted a legion of acts, including the late Robin Williams, Hunter Hayes, and even the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders.

Baskin-Robbins is also offering the First Class Camouflage Sundae, which is decorated with Oreo bits, caramel praline, hot fudge and whipped cream. Despite a portion of the proceeds going to a good cause, your waistline may not appreciate it so much as a regular serving size of the sundae comes in at 990 calories and 45 grams of fat.

So far, public opinion on the tactical treat is mixed, with many expressing disgust simply because of the combination of colors while others think the flavor sounds tantalizing. Above all, the flavor seems ripe for jokes like these:

The company is no stranger to bizarre flavors and ice cream creations. Several Thanksgivings ago, we saw the Turkey Cake . That same year was host to Waffle Chip Dippers, which were more widely known as “ ice cream nachos .” And just last month, Baskin-Robbins unveiled their October treat of the month, Trick Oreo Treat .

Of course, Baskin-Robbins won’t be the only company to offer a little something sweet to honor those who bravely serve their country. This year, all Tim Horton’s Café & Bake Shop locations are offering a free donut to all U.S. veterans and active-duty personnel so long as they are wearing their uniform or present their military ID.

What are your thoughts on the camouflage ice cream? Are you going to be grabbing a scoop or passing over it? Leave your thoughts in the comments below.
