But it was Seth Meyers’ June 11, 2025, monologue on Late Night with Seth Meyers that truly boosted the conversation. Meyers poked fun at Donald Trump’s interview on the New York Post’s Pod Force One, where he blandly described Barron as “very tall and good.”
Meyers deadpanned, “Sounds like Trump knows as much about Barron as your grandma knows about LeBron James.”
Cue the laughter! And a more serious observation: Donald Trump seems to have little more than surface-level knowledge about his son.
Seth Meyers’ Joke Isn’t Just About Barron Trump
The late-night joke may have gotten a laugh, but it landed because it echoed a truth. Donald Trump’s comments about Barron (often fixated on his son’s height) have long raised eyebrows. In May 2025, Donald claimed Barron was 6’9”, even though in late 2023, he pegged him at 6’7”.
The idea that Barron Trump shot up two inches after age 18 isn’t impossible. But it’s unlikely.

What’s more telling is that Trump’s repeated praise always circles back to his son’s physical stature, as if height is the pinnacle of achievement. This superficiality wasn’t just reserved for Barron. In the same Pod Force One interview, Trump also reduced Ivanka to “she’s so great.” Tiffany was mentioned for having a law degree, and Don Jr. was dubbed “an outdoorsman.”
The pattern is clear: Donald describes his children like he’s skimming their LinkedIn profiles rather than sharing personal insight. As Meyers pointed out, “He talks about his kids like he’s reading their Wikipedia profiles.”
Donald Trump’s Parenting Style Stays Stuck
Donald Trump’s distance from fatherhood isn’t a new revelation. Ivana Trump admitted in her memoir, Raising Trump, that she handled the hands-on parenting.

Donald himself told People in a 2006 interview that he didn’t plan to attend Barron’s birth because “I think it’s easier for Melania if I’m not there.” That mentality seems unchanged in 2025.
Even when Donald’s talking nicely about Barron (like in that interview with Fox News in 2024), he keeps mentioning how tall his son is. It’s like he can’t get over it. And it doesn’t matter if they’re chatting about school or brains; somehow, the height thing always sneaks into the conversation! And that’s the core of the issue.
It’s okay to make fun of and scrutinize public figures, even presidents. But what the late-night TV hosts are poking fun at isn’t Barron Trump. It’s all about how Donald Trump acts like a parent on stage. It’s too bad that Barron sometimes gets dragged into the joke by accident.
However, the main joke here is still about how Donald Trump seems uncomfortable when he talks about his own family.
