Backstage Reaction To The WWE Release Of EMMA

This past weekend, WWE released EMMA, Darren Young, and Summer Rae; while the two latter names did not come as a surprise to many, EMMA’s release was unexpected due to her feud with the main roster debuting Asuka. Regarding their match at TLC , many were both surprised and disappointed that she received as much offense as she did, especially since she does not have a consistent win-loss record and was just starting to regain credibility as a Raw women’s talent. Despite this, WWE once again placed the two on Raw against each other for a rematch, which nearly mirrored what fans saw the night before.

As a result of this heavy offense from EMMA, the belief backstage and through various outlets was that she would receive a mild push, as she was rumored to possibly compete against Paige upon her return. However, these reported plans were obviously dropped, as WWE felt that EMMA was expendable enough to be released from the company.

Backstage Reaction to EMMA’s Release

Although EMMA has not been a very strong presence on the main roster, with the exception of her matches against Asuka and a short “Women’s Revolution” feud against Mickie James, she has been widely viewed as a solid hand and a good competitor in the ring.

According to the Wrestling Observer Radio , the backstage feeling toward this release was indeed shocking to many. In addition to wrestlers not being aware that she was going to be released, creative did not know as well, as she was scheduled for upcoming appearances. In addition to the feud with Asuka, EMMA was given new theme music to enhance her character and add depth to her small push.

What’s Next For EMMA?

Yesterday, when EMMA found out the news that she was released, she posted an emoji to show that she was heartbroken. The WOR also added that EMMA was not expecting to be released, especially since she received some positive character tweaks over the past few weeks.

With 10 years of experience, the 28-year-old should find no problem with landing an opportunity to compete outside the WWE. While this may have been her best opportunity, there are plenty more in the world of independent wrestling, and she is more than capable of making a good living.
