Aziz Ansari is one of the hottest young comedians in America, and it turns out that his new girlfriend Courtney McBroom is quite the rising star in her own field.
The Parks and Recreation actor is normally reserved about his personal life, but recently has opened up about his new girlfriend, who is the chef at New York’s popular Momofuku Noodle Bar and Milk Bar.
In an interview with Billboard Magazine , Aziz Ansari noted that Courtney is a good match for him.
“I met her years ago when she was seeing someone,” he told Billboard of McBroom. “I thought she was really cool. Then I ran into her randomly, and she was single. I’ve kind of settled down. I was the guy eating Skittles and having lots of fun, and then I was like, ‘I need a nice nutritious salad’ — she’s the salad.”
Courtney McBroom is a classically trained pastry chef, which led her to write two different Milk Bar cookbooks. She also writes about food for Vice and Lucky Peach and before hooking up with Aziz Ansari spent quite a bit of time traveling to find new foods.
McBroom said she also tries to connect with culinary tastes of the past and is a collector of old cookbooks.
“I love to collect them. Some recipes are hilarious and the idea of actually making and eating them seem horrifying, like Shrimp Sandwich Log, anyone?” she told Camille Styles earlier this year. “But there are always a few gems in the mix. It’s a way of looking back in time and seeing how our grandparents and great grandparents ate – it’s fascinating. When I travel, I often go to used bookstores and bee-line straight for the cookbook section. My current favorite is called A Taste of Texas by Jane Trahey. I found it at Omnivore Books in San Francisco, which is by far the coolest bookstore because they only sell cookbooks!”
But in the interview, McBroom also hinted that her relationship with Aziz Ansari was advancing. Though she didn’t mention Ansari by name, Courtney mentioned that she had been visiting his home city quite frequently.
“I’ve been spending much more time in LA lately, and I don’t have the market times and locations memorized yet, so I like to keep a written schedule handy for reference,” she noted.
It appears those hints were correct. A source told Us Weekly that Aziz Ansari and new girlfriend Courtney McBroom have already moved in together in Los Angeles, and that Aziz is busy writing a book on relationships.
