Despite reports on Saturday, it appears that Avril Lavigne isn’t married — yet. The singer is set to wed Nickelback’s Chad Kroeger in the South of France, though it appears the ceremony won’t happen until Monday, July 1.
Despite the premature wedding congratulations, the rumors were partially true, according to new reports, which said yesterday’s celebrations were a wedding party. They just weren’t THE wedding party.
The initial rumors took off after Mike Heller, the CEO of the talent company representing Avril Lavigne, tweeted out , “I’m in south of France about to see my little Rok star #avril get married I am so happy to be part of this celebration.”
But Heller’s comments were explained by a Us Magazine source later on . The source stated, “he never tweeted the wedding happened, just said he was on his way and excited for his friend.” So, Avril and Nickelback fans, the two singers really will get married this weekend, just not yesterday. Or today.
The source added that the wedding will be “extremely intimate, just close friends and family.” Which is, quite possibly, why Heller was so honored he was able to attend Avril’s wedding .
Lavigne recently spoke about plans for her wedding, saying that she took control of everything. She dished:
“I’ve been doing it, I’m the girl. I’m the one who has the crazy vision and he’s letting me be me. It’s a lot and I just want to make sure I really enjoy this amazing time.”
Avril Lavigne added that she also hopes her wedding will wow guests. The rocker explained, “I want all the guests who come to have this once in a lifetime experience and I want everyone to say ‘Wow!’ and for it to be special for everyone, not just us.”
Avril Lavigne and Chad Kroeger announced their engagement in August 2012. It will be the second marriage for Lavigne and the first for Kroeger. Avril was previously married to Sum 41’s Deryck Whibley until October 2009.
So, while it appears the wedding hasn’t happened quite yet, Avril Lavigne and Chad Kroeger will tie the knot on Monday.
