The AR Drone has been a staple at CES over the last few years and Parrot continues to improve on its product.

The AR Drone 2.0 will soon come with a GPS flight recorder, a bigger battery and better camera software.

The GPS flight recorder will simply plug in to the USB port and will give the user the ability to track the drone’s flying parameters. Once the drone is back at base you’ll be able to create a map of the hovering helicopter’s 18-minute (with the new battery) flight.

The GPS flight recorder and the bigger battery will give AR Drone pilots a cool experience but Parrot’s big reveal this year was the new “director’s mode.”

The AR Drone 2.0 is used by many to capture high-flying video and Parrot has made their product more easy to control.

With director’s mode, drone pilots can program pre-registered movements like pan, crane, and traveling. The new controls make it easier to fly the AR Drone and adds better image stabilization to the camera.

Here’s a picture of the AR Drone 2.0 from CES 2013.
