Antawn Jamison: 16-Year NBA Veteran Has Teams Lined Up To Sign

Antawn Jamison isn’t ready to call it quits yet, and the 16-year NBA veteran has a host of teams interested in his services for the upcoming season.

The veteran forward has generated interest from the Chicago Bulls, Los Angeles Clippers, Memphis Grizzlies, and Charlotte Bobcats. But after signing quickly with the Los Angeles Lakers last year, averaging nine points and five rebounds in 76 games, Jamison said he’s going to take his time in picking his next destination .

“I think last year, getting the opportunity to play for the Lakers and their organization, I really jumped into it,” Jamison said. “Didn’t really view my options, but this year I really want to make sure I’m going to the right situation, where I have a good rapport with the coaching staff and also with management I’m able to communicate and get an understanding of what they want from me.”

Jamison added that just because a team looks good on paper doesn’t mean it will be a good fit.

“That’s why you really have to take your time and key into what’s best not just for me but for my family as well,” he added.

Antawn Jamison ended his tenure with the Lakers on not-so-great terms, skipping the team’s exit interviews. It mirrored the team’s own season, which ended in disappointment with a first-round playoff exit.

Jamison could fit needs on a number of the teams interested, bringing depth to the frontcourt and the ability to score points off the bench. The Clippers could be a particularly good fit as the team is in need of rebounding help, and the Bobcats were reportedly very interested in Jamison before he signed with the Lakers.

With only a few years at most in the league, Antawn Jamison will likely choose his next destination based on who can give him the most playing time and a chance at his first NBA championship.
