Oceans 8 star Anne Hathaway has recently fired back against post-baby body shamers. On her official Instagram account, the 33-year-old actress gave fans a glimpse of her weight loss journey following the birth of her first baby, named Jonathan Rosebanks, with husband Adam Shulman.
Alongside a photo of her jeans, Anne Hathaway wrote an inspiring message for new moms who feel the pressure to immediately lose weight after giving birth. Hathaway gave birth to her first child back in March of this year.
“There is no shame in gaining weight during pregnancy (or ever). There is no shame if it takes longer than you think it will to lose the weight (if you want to lose it at all). There is no shame in finally breaking down and making your own jean shorts because last summer’s are just too dang short for this summer’s thighs. Bodies change. Bodies grow. Bodies shrink. It’s all love (don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.)”
Positive comments shortly started coming in, mostly from new moms experiencing the same dilemma. They thanked the Oceans 8 star for sharing a body-positive message that every mom needs to hear.
“Love this post @annehathaway Our whole world changes when we welcome a child into the world and our dress size post baby should be the least of our worries. If you are happy and healthy and your baby is thriving you’re doing an awesome job – celebrate that!” a fan commented.
In an interview with Ellen DeGeneres back in May, Anne Hathaway shared that being a mom has made her feel more confident about her body. There were, however, times when she cannot help but feel insecure about her weight. During one of her trips to the gym, she caught a guy staring at her and thought that he was interested, only to find out that he was actually a trainer. When he came up to her, Hathaway thought that he would compliment her but ended up making her feel way worse.
“I’m expecting him to say the thing that you say when someone says that they’ve had a baby. Which is, ‘Oh my God! You look great!’ Doesn’t matter if it’s true. So, I say to this guy I had a baby seven weeks ago and he goes, ‘Oh, trying to lose the baby weight!’
“I just mustered up my dignity and say, ‘No, it’s a little bit too soon to worry about weight. I’m just trying to regain my strength.’ He said, ‘Great’ and walked away and I cried a little bit.”

Blake Lively has also called out post-baby body shamers during an appearance on Australian morning show, Sunrise . According to Glamour , the Shallows star shut down the interviewer’s compliment on her bikini body, pointing out that it was unfair how immediately getting one’s figure back after giving birth is celebrated in Hollywood.
“I think a woman’s body after having a baby is pretty amazing. You don’t need to be Victoria’s Secret ready right away because you just did the most incredible miracle that life has to offer. I mean you gave birth to a human being! So I would really like to see that celebrated.”
In order to get back in shape for The Shallows , Lively shared that she needed help from two trainers and a nutritionist, explaining that no one should expect to look someone like that eight months after giving birth.
“I focused on training and eating well. It took two different trainers and a nutritionist to help me get into that sort of shape because it’s not normal to look like that eight months after having a kid,” she said.
